The 2019 Freedom of Expression Awards of Index on Censorship were given with a ceremony organized in London. The award within the category of “arts” was granted to journalist-artist Zehra Doğan, who was arrested for more than two years due to the news she reported and paintings she made during the curfews in Nusaybin district of Mardin.
